Tool Kits
I have a very limited range of tools at the moment and was thinking about one of the kits that often appear on Ebay (Draper) and Wiggle etc for about £40.
Has anyone bought similar, or have any opinions on them? Would I be better off buying the tools individually as and when I need them? I'm thinking a kit would be a good start point on which I can improve upon if I actually get some use out of them. My bike is less than a year old if that makes any difference.
Cheers.

I think the budget tool kits are not the best to be honest.
I started with Headset spanners! Dont use them much now
Just build it up as you go. Buy the best you can afford as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for which is very true when it comes to any kind of tools be they bike or otherwise.
Good Allen keys, cone spanners, chain tool, cassette cracker, chain whip, good tyre levers and a track pump, all the bike specific stuff you really need for general maintenance.
Im sure other folk will have other suggestions.

Cheap tools damage components. It's better to buy quality tools as and when you need them and build up a kit that way.0

I bought the Draper set over 3 years ago, mostly still going strong (chain tool's a bit crap, busted first time I used it).Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

I recently bought some 'proper' allen keys, the ones with the long shafts rather than the sets you buy on key rings.
Absolutely fantastic to work with, best £12 I have spent for a long while. Wish I had done it years ago.Half man, Half bike0 -

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to buy things as I need them. Started off by getting some long handled Allen keys, primariliy because I wanted to check my chain ring bolts.
Came to the conclusion that there was more carrying case than worthwhile tools in those starter sets.Specialized Venge S Works
