Trail lid Vs. P1sspot.

Can anyone tell me which lid gives better protection? I've just cracked my Giro Hex in a fall and teh '09 versions seem to have doubled in price since last time i checked  I can't find the receipt to use Giro's warranty to get another Hex (for roughly a third of the price).
I quite like the look of the Giro Flak - Paul Basagoitia Edition. Will this kind of helmet be suitable for trail riding?

I have a Pro-Tec Ace pi55pot and it's absolutely fine for trail riding, I prefer the style over my old Giro Xen, was ilke wearing a hardhat.0

What's the heat difference like? I'll only be riding in the UK (and mainly in the North...) so i can't imagine i'll be baking my head.0

TBH I haven't noticed any difference... been fine riding with it.......
Horses for courses really, I love the pi55pot style personally......0 -
Thanks Cheesey, that's pretty much made up my mind0

You can have the best of both worlds with one of these:

I have one. Full coverage of a p*sspot but all the vents of a standard lid. Peak is removable and it comes with different liners to customise the fit.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
I have a bell faction, which is a brilliant helmet as long as you're only riding half a mile, or it's below zero But it's just unwearable in summer for distance riding, and it's reasonably vented as pisspots go.Uncompromising extremist0

my pro tec P155 pot is great, really comfy, but i do find that it's lot hotter on longer rides/warmer days. but i still prefer wearing it to my 661 xc helmet.0
