Take a look on www.merlincycles.co.uk
They have some good deals on forks sometimes, few weeks back had RockShox 327 for £150, and Reba SL I think. Both will be better than the suntour!0 -
What is your budget?0

I dont really have a budget i just need an idea on what would be good for my bike so i can save up once i get a job.0

Suntour XCM have got to be one of the worst forks on the market. I know from experience as my GT avalanche 3 has them and they have zero damping control in compression and rebound, its hard to justify calling them suspension. Almost anything will be an upgrade. I'd reckon to budget around about £200 - £300 for something resonable.0

While on the same subject...
rockshox reba team - 2009 - £329

Or..
Rockshox Sid Race 2009 fork £360

The sids appear to be much lighter, but are they strong enough for aggressive/ish XC?0 -

The XCM DA does have a hydraulic damping cartridge, the DA standing for 'damping adjust'. Not a bad fork. Most XCMs do not.
But there are better to be had. But you have to weigh up the price of a new fork against what the bike is worth. On a budget a Tora or Recon would be a good buy. I wouldn't spend any more than that in a one off buy as the differecne could be better spent elsewhere.0
