I tried a normal crud catcher on my bike & it doesn't sit right on the frame nor did the bands stretch far enough. Is there anythign (pref black or green) that would work well ? downside of a weird shaped frame i guess

Yup. I LOVE my shockboard, under-tube guards are great if you want minimal but they don't do half as good a job at actually stopping mud.

The cycraguards are supposed to be better to fit to funny shaped bikes, decent guards too.

Crudcatcher 09 has fairly long rubber straps - out of interest what bike do you have?

Fork mounted stuff will certainly solve your problem however - having said that, I've never really liked the look of them on a bike.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
  • Instead of using the bands, try using some longer cable ties instead. Should be able to get some long enough to fit any frame.

    Excellent idea.

i have a 2009 crud guard, which fits fine on my orange sub 5. the bands stretch fine.

it's maybe not the best pic of it but it didn't sit right & I stretched the bands until they felt like they were about to break. The overall shape is awkward in that sense, although with the cables & it being brand new i also didn't want to do any damage to that

  • I still suggest the use of cable ties long enough to go round the downtube but I think you're going to have to take it to LBS to get the best fit for the mud guard to assess which sits best. To protect your frame from the cable ties, get some copter tape onto the tube where the ties will sit so that they don't damage the paintwork.

I'd still go for a shockboard, no contact with the frame, takes seconds to remove it or put on again and it tracks your wheel so keeps the muck off better

i would fit a crud catcher dont see the problem.

if you want a strip of sticky backed rubber/draught excluder just to lift it away from the frame a tad...

If you have an older Marzocchi fork you could get an MX Fender for it. It bolts to the underside of the steerer. They don't fit the newer forks apparently (different, flatter shape) so check first. They may make a newer shaped one now though.
