    Not 100% sure but I've a feeling it's something like your winnings are only enough to get a fish supper on the way home.

  • in my book there is a slightly derogatory side meaning in that rider who is a fish and chipper .... a rider who does not ride at his full potential, only races enough for the points or placings to maintain his position

    At the minute, I think Cavendish might be running him quite close!

    Anway, that pro stuff is for another place on the forum.

    I always thought it refered to mundane races, that in other walks of life might just as easily be referred to as 'bread and butter'. I like the idea of the cash only being enough to visit the chip shop on the way home though...
