Which Adjustable Seatpost?

Looking around for an adjustable seat post. stopping every 5 minutes on the trails is hacking me off. I'd rather just get on with the trail. I never get the height right with the QR anyway and have to stop again after adjustment or put up with it.

Leaning towards the Gravity Dropper Turbo remote at the moment. Anyone got experience they can pass on?

much appreciated. thanks in advance. :)

What size seat post do you have? If it's 27.2.. the Gravity Dropper is your best option at the moment, however the new 27.2mm Joplin 4 is due to be released next month at some point so might be worth hanging on for (see here http://www.2pure.co.uk/Crank-Bros/Crank-Bros-Seatposts)
  • thanks for that.

it doesn;t look like they've done much about the weather proofing on the version 4. I've ordered the gravity dropper in a nice brushed alu. £170 for the classic. would have gone for the turbo if i'd wanted my man parts smashed up on its return to climbing height  , but since i don't the classic seems the one to go for....

Do post and let us know your impressions of it when you've had a while with it. I'm waiting for the Joplin myself, want a lever version because I don't fancy cable tying the cable to my top tube.
  • i will. The gravity seemed to be the most robust and the internal parts easy to fit. right ok, i get that it might not be as solid as a one piece alu or carbon post, but there's no point in having that if you're gong to fall ar*e over t*t on the black run at glentress because you're perched right up there on the drops and berms because you couldn't be ar"sed stopping every section to adjust, then re-adjust between each section of a day long route.

I'll have a few runs out around the local trails and post some notes on how I'm getting on.

I ordered the multi stage post (3 heights) with handlebar remote. We'll see!

Mini review in the latest Singletrack mag (am I allowed to mention that on here?).

A little dot of permanent marker on the seat post means you get it at the right height and facing forward every time.

Has to be said however, I do like the idea of an instantly adjustable seatpost.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

so, finally, got around to writing a review

great seatpost. used araound the Inverleithan red route this weekend. made transition from downhill route to climbing very easy.

i have the multiposition which is extra good. flat rocky route sections can be dropped an inch seat height to allow a bit of comfort. full dropped (4inch total) for down sections or drops and back to full height with a click of the bar lever and sitting pressure to allow the seat to click and rise up with you to full height for pedalling fire road or climbs.

really pleased with it.... no play (although the seat came loose a bit so a 5mm allen would be handy to carry in case this happens to you.
