Now the days are getting longer again :) it got me thinking. What time of day do you people prefer to ride? I'm not a morning person so I very rarely get up in time to be out the door before 11 which is a pain in winter lol.

I voted mid morning coz thats what I prefer, but its normally meet up around 8.00am on a saturday morning though- an ungodly hour for the weekend IMO!

But with light nights coming back soon it'll be back to the evening rides afterwork 8)

  • Like to be riding by 9AM. Get a good ride in , and be back in time for tiffin. Means I usually have to ride on my own, but at least I can change my route if I feel like it.

8:30 - 5 weekdays means only two days where I can get out of bed at like 11am - 1pm, not cool! So mid afternoons for me. Can't wait for the clocks to go forward so I can get cycles in after work too!

I have always been an early riser and dawn in Bangkok is between 6 & 6:30 year round. I only need about 4 -5 hours sleep a night so I am usually up about 4 pm and out at dawn. Going so early avoids both the rush hour and the heat.
  • Well this is interesting so far tbh. I thought I would be in the minority and that most would be going out early (like all my friends seem to like  ).
I also hardly see anyone out and about unless I go to a trail centre.

Ditto! I like to get out early as the roads are quiet, not to mention more riding time 8)

    I was out today at 6.10am for a ride. Mostly it's 9am.

Although now the clocks are going back, it will likely be evenings after work too

When i can convince my friends and light permits 7-7:30am start and 5-6pm finish, might as well use the good weather we have at the moment.

Ideal time for me is about 7:00/7:30am...... roads are empty and the woods have a quietness about them - good thinking time also!!!!

when riding trail centres, we always turn up pretty late...about 1pm. By the time we hit the summit, most of everyone else has finished and we get a pretty clear run with no obstructions.

I find the advantages of early morning are that I can make it more of a habit, and it still leaves most of the day free for other things. If I don't get out straight away I find the day can end up revolving around it and other things suffer.
  • Early morning, glorious sunshine, still fresh so you don't overheat and no other bugger about to get in the way!!!

The best time to ride is when you're not 'synced' with everyone else. This means mid/late-morning starts for all-day rides, (very) late afternoon for short blasts and - shh don't tell anyone - whenever there's a major sporting event on telly.

    Early early early!!!

Best time of the day by far. I'm up as soon as it's light usually in summer and off out about an hour after that.

Completely the opposite in winter tho...

My idea of hell on a weekend. Have to be up at 7, 5 days a week and thats bad enough. I thought I would change as I got older but haven't yet.

Early I like the most but often its mid day just because most people cant be bothered to wake up. Its so hard to do anything after work as I am just warn out. Though I do love night rides

7 o'clock!!?? That's an hour's lie-in for me at weekends! I'm up at 6, five days a week. Mind you, I'm hardly ever in bed later than 11.

Kids these days, don't know they're born! :D
