Will probably be replacing the brake hoses on my bike soon with Goodridge hoses. Having looked at various options on the net, I don't know what adaptors I need to connect the hoses. The brakes I have are Hayes Sole which yes I know are the cheap end of the market but they are ok for me at the mo!

Anybody got any ideas where I can get the correct adaptors / connectors from?

Thanks

Hayes Sole's are not worth Goodridge hoses.

Get new brakes if you want an upgrade.

What would you suggest then - I don't have much money (max£100)
General riding e.g. whatever is at a trail centre e.g. Chicksands I'll have a go at.

Why do you feel that you need to upgrade the hoses on the Sole's?

QHD hydraulics are very good value, Shimano Deore are also good, Tektro Auriga are pretty good too, then there's Avid Juicy 3

I am upgrading generally (and slowly) before migrating parts to a new frame (in the distant future. New frame will be smaller than my current one so hose should be long enough).

Surely I could get new hoses now and then just change the adaptor kit for new brakes?

There might be compatibility issues, some brakes might have different internal diameter hoses (not 100% sure of this, but I do remember somewhere in the back of my mind that this could be the case.)

Also different brakes use different fluids, dot & mineral, hoses might be constructed differently to accommodate this.

Braided hoses aren't really much of a performance upgrade anyway, most regular riders will not notice much of a difference, if you want to upgrade best bet is new brakes (IMHO)

so you reckon new brakes before new hose even though in the end both will be replaced when i have enough parts to put onto a new frame?

Its a bit of a dilemma because at the mo i don't need new brakes really until i get a new frame. I don't really puch the Hardrock so don't need better brakes - doh!!

yes as new hoses will not make the soles any better.

    you cant polish a turd.
