Any Genesis Core owners here?

Having read some of the "what to buy for less than a grand hardtail " threads recently,I am findng myself increasingly drawn to the Genesis Core range, even more so since I noticed that Evans have started reducing the 09 models.
I love my XTC,but there are times that I am riding it a bit harder than what it is designed for and I am increasingly enjoying riding more technical stuff.I might yet adjust the travel the travel on the Rebas to 100mm from the current 85mm,and swap to larger volume tyres, but have been looking at other options.
I had been pondering over a full susser, but I not sure I want the added complexity, and servicing, and would prefer a nicely specced hardtail over a cheap full susser.I have been looking around at full suss frames and swapping kit across, but decent secondhand frames are well over £500 to which I`d also have to add the the cost of longer travel 120mm forks, which given current prices would be another £300,on top.
I have 2 ideas.
One is to keep the XTC and buy a cheaper Core, like the 20 for £600 ,aswell. The 20 is a bit heavier than what I am used to,but the Toras and other kit should prove durable, and if I were going on longer rides I`d still take the XTC.
However I already have 2 roadbikes in the garage, and would have yet another bike to service and fettle,so the other thought is to rationalise, sell the XTC,and buy the 30 for £750 (Recon forks,Deore drivetrain/brakes) or the 40 for £900 (full SLX and adjustable travel Recons),and this would seem to be all the bike I would really need, for 90% of the riding I do.
Given that it weighs only 2 lbs more than my XTC,I reckon the 40 wouldn`t me much slower and would be more fun on the downhill and twisty singletrack, but it would mean the sale of my much loved XTC........
What do you reckon?
Any feedback from Core owners welcomed!

colour on 40 looks yucky in person imo 30 is awesome but obviously a bit down from the 40 on some parts. If you want something that can throw through trails are you sure it's more suitable or do you need to look at something like the orange crush, the marin rocky ridge etc? Be a shame to lose the xtc and find out it doesn't quite do as much as you want to do.Start Weight 18st 13lbs March 2009
17st 10lbs August 2009
17st 4lbs October 2009
15st 12lbs December 2010
Final planned weight 12st 7lbs0 -
I have the 2008 Genesis Core 40 in all black, nice.
I think it's a fantastic, it has slightly different spec to the 09 model but I think the frame is the same, it has the Recon's 351 U-turn 85mm to 130mm.
It sounds just what you are looking for. If I am just doing a local xc loop I leave it on 85 to 100mm and it is fine, light enough and pedals well.
When I go to trail centres(which is every week) i increase the travel and it turns into a different beast, can handle jumps, rocks, drops and anything else you throw at it.
it really is a do anything bike.
Buy it and enjoy.0 -
I have the core 10 and absolutely love it. Any of the models up will be even better I imagine!0
