The Alfine Alpina Pompino offer at Planet X

Has anyone here taken on the task of one one those Shimano Alpine internal hub gear kits? Been more tempted since the price drop?
Basically you buy the core of the Alfine group, an Alpina cross fork and get a 135mm Pompino frame free. This kit was just short of £400 until the BIG SALE kicked off yesterday, now its reduced to £340.

Personally, I'm torn by this offer! If I manage to sell the F5C, my ideal replacement commuter would be build round an Alfine setup, take full mudguards and take disc brakes. Its the last criteria that stops me jumping to the "buy me now" stage, as the Pompino is not designed for disc brakes.
But here's the dilemma... Planet X appear to be the only e-tailor with the Shimano Alpine stuff in at semi-reasonable prices. If money was not so tight, I might be tempted to buy the kit and an Uncle John frame.
