Unsure which forum is the best to post this!

Anyway has anyone cycled around the Sitges area? Going there at the end of March for a normal holiday with my Girlfriend but taking my bike. Hoping to get in an hour or 2 most days. As far as i know there's a national park just inland. Any tips or info on cycling around here is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

    That's great to know!

Is it worth buyng a map? Maybe an OS type thing but for the area?
Also, what are spanish drivers like when it comes to cyclists?!

Well, I am Spanish - Spanish drivers are crap and usually not good towards cyclists but the roads are quieter so that will work in your favour.

About maps, the Instituto Geografico Nacional do the same job in Spain .

You need this one I believe:

Thanks for the useful info! 2.5 euro seems very cheap. Will try get one...

That surpsises me about thr drivers. Can't be worse than most british drivers? When i was in France a few yeara ago when the tour was on, drivers beeped and waved at you! Anyway, i look forward and hope the weather is good.
  • It may be a bit late for this if you're off at the end of March, but anyway ... I have a holiday place in Vilanova, just along the road from Sitges, and spend a fair bit of time riding around there.

Lots of great rides; head for names like Coll de Ventoses (from Sant Jaume dels Domenys), Coll d'Arca (from Bisbal del Penedes or Aiguaviva), 17%!!), Santes Creus Monastery, La Llacuna, Pontons if you like hills. You can take in these places in rides of 100km to 150km from Sitges. Or head towards Castelldefels on spectacular but busy coast road and seek out Rat Penat with some 20% ramps.

The best maps for this area are Catalan ; http://www.icc.cat/vissir2/?lang=ca_ES. Also some ride ideas on http://acmontjuic.blog.pangea.org/recorreguts/

    Have fun.
