I'm thinking about racing this year and investing in some new wheels. My budget is not huge (about £250 max.). At the moment it's between the Planet X model Bs 175 and some ultegra 6600 reduced to £225. Any help with deciding would be gratefully recieved.
Cheers

  • Ive got the model B wheels and i love them.. I took some bontrager race wheels off my trek madone and replaced them with planet x and it was a good move.

Theres plenty of guys in my club with £500 wheels and i tried a few different ones, (mavic. Easton) and they really dont feel any different to the planet x ones.

I know someone who has ultegra wheels andthey seem good but ive never ridden them.

+1 for model b, at least you can rebuild them. I used the ultegras for about 18 months until the rear rim cracked at a spoke hole, probably due to the low spoke count and high tension.
