  • Thankfully no unhinged ex-girlfriends *taps table* but there have been times when I've had to get an interdict against the puncture fairy due to her relentless attention

I hope the puncture fairy stalks him like a slightly unhinged ex-girlfriend.

Excellent - the man has all the worst qualities of a pseudo-cyclist - mind you I raised the finger the other day when I was in the right hand lane of a one way street and about to turn right (having signalled) when a twonk in a camper van hooted at me - I suspect beacuse I was riding in my usual position about a metre out from the kerb and he couldn't get past
  • Excellent letter in the Times in response to the original article and some of the letters into the paper:

Hugo's back! Scroll down to the "Cold Discomfort" bit. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/hugo_rifkind/article5941258.ece :)

You are so right. Hugo Rifkind is a tawt.

Roastiecp, you're poor spelling has made it into the Times in today's comment section.

Seriously though, we can now come to the conclusion that Hugo reads Bike Radar. I hope he's had good use out of the content we're providing for his weekly column inches. Heck, we might even see him some Friday in the Morpeth Arms  Perhaps he already posts amongst us. Biondino, it isn't you..?

Sadly, this week's effort follows the same poor journalism. Rather than accept the point of the original post, that his inflammatory comments do no cyclist any favour, and that as a fair weather cyclist he shouldn't be making sweeping judgments that cover all of us, he turns it into a a cycle snobbery thing, that we're against him for being a fair weather cyclist.

I think the most infuriating thing is that he exhibits exactly the same irritating prejudice as non-cyclists, namely that there's no such thing as a cyclist that doesn't RLJ and ride on the pavements.

I get really pissed off when people do that in person because they're basically accusing you of lying to their face. I see no reason why I shouldn't be annoyed by this wanker's blanket assertions.

Lets not get into an RLJ debate.

Buy cycle craft, read it, ride primary and don't ride like a d1ck.

    Jash,

Just wanted to let you know that, based on your advice, I have just bought Cyclecraft. Going to make a start on reading it this afternoon. I also got City Cycling by Richard Ballantine.

    Thanks for the advice.

    +1

I too followed Jash's advice and bought Cyclecraft. Do you think he should charge commission?

I needed something to undo the bad habits that I picked up from this instructional video:

I know its an old clip but I'd hoped it had been buried. The guy almost taking out two pedestrians wins the biggest "tawt" contest. Or maybe the guy who almost stacks it running the lights. Or maybe...

Whatever, they leave Riffkind in the shade, although he has no excuse. Great PR, guys, thanks.
