Surbiton - Frimley/Camberly Route advice

I'm due to start a new job soon in Frimley and naturally enough looking to bike it in at least 2 days a week, can anyone advise on the route I might take?

I've created a route on Bikely if anyone would like to comment which I've actually tried out. It wasn't too bad, mostly back streets and minor roads with some of those quite rural, the only section I felt uncomfortable on really was at the end on the B311 which I couldn'tt see a practicable alternative to.

Looking at someone else's route I've also come up with this but it is about 4km longer and is untried

Anyone care to comment, offer helpful suggestions? I'm trying to keep it as short as possible as its around 40km on the shorter route which is a good 90 minutes plus riding each way, while avoiding heavily trafficked/fast roads and congested town centre traffic as well (stopping for lights is a real pain)

I still have a week or so to test out alternatives so suggestions may well be test ridden.
'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....

i think thats more or less the best option, you can go further north hugging the river more but sooner or later there are big roads....

I used to work in Frimley and cycled from Woking down the canal - nice route but not always the quickest, however it is exceptionally pleasant in the mornings. I don't know how convenient it is to get from Surbiton to wherever you can pick up the canal though - I used to get the train to Woking.
  • I cycle from Woking to Frimley each day, usually via the B311 Red Road (the ranges as it's known locally). For you it's going to be pretty much unavoidable unless you approach Camberley via the A30 through Bagshot.

If you do decide to try a route via Woking there is an alternative to the B311 - via Brookwood and Frimley Green.
