Right a couple of us are going to spend the easter weekend in Wales visiting some of the tracks there. Coed Llandegla will def be visited but I want to visit Afan also. We will be spending a full day at Afan which of the trails do people recommend to do in one day?

You can manage any two of The Wall, White's Level or Penhydd in a day. Penhydd and The Wall start in the same place at the Forest visitor centre but White's starts a good few miles up the road at Glyncorwg (sp?).

W2 or Skyline are full day routes in their own right.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

I'm pretty excited about going and seeing what is on offer will be a nice change from the scottish tracks I ride (and love) all the time.

I think The Wall will definately be ridden, and whites sounds interested.

Whites absolutely rocks. I had my first trip round there last Friday. Climbs are nothing to worry about at all but the downs are awesome. It is definitely worth doing it all - ie take the black downhill section, but then climb back up to do more of Whites Level before decending to the Energy Trail - you can go straight from the bottom of the black run to the Energy Trail but then you miss the best bit of the Whites Level - an awesome single track decent.

If I did it again I'd have done the black downhill twice before continuing on to the rest of Whites.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

If you are sepnding the day there i would do Whites level and Skyline ( up to the first short cut ) this is perfect for a days ride as all in one place and you get the added bonus of the fantastic cafe for lunch.
Skyline I think is over looked as a trail simply because it is long and has too much fire road.
To remedy this by taking the first short cut you get some really good single tarck and my personal favorite descent there which is the last section.
Whites out of the 4 trails there is the best without doubt. taken agressivley the whole trail is very flowing and add in the black options and energy trai it has a great mix of single track and more hardcore sections.
Also if you do my suggestion you get the chance to do the black run twice !! whcih for me is all good.
