Pedal dilema!

I've currently got 1 pair of MTB pedals and switch these (PD-M540) SPDs from my MTB to my road bike, so planning to buy another pair of pedals for my roadbike.
I've got a pair of Sidi Dominator shoes and they won't take 3 bolt cleats....
SO, the question is, do I treat myself to a pair of road shoes, and a pair of Time RSX, Look /Dura Ace type pedals or just get a second pair of MTB SPDs?
...will I notice an improvement having the larger cleat/pedal for my road biking? Not too fussed about the walking about restrictions on the roadbike!
Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!
Cheers

Depends on what type of riding you're doing - I've ridden 270km sportives in SPDs - a good shoe like yours Sidis helps - but I still prefer road shoes for longer road rides - the shoes are lighter and the bigger pedal cleat and engagement feels more secure and efficient.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks MD, I'm doing a 100mile Dartmoor sportive in the summer and currently head out on the road for between 30 and 80milers and maybe an alpine holiday every year... maybe I'll go for the bigger type cleat for a change!
...anybody have experience of the Time RSX type pedals?0 -
