Hi Guys, planning on doing the Leeds to Liverpool in May over four days with the leg iron. Had a bimble around on the net but unable to find much info. Has anyone done this ride?. Any info welcome!.
Cheers,
Chris.

  • Do a search. There's a new extension to the canal that's not yet officially open. The old start/finish in Liverpool was near the old Tobacco Wharehouse, and it is a PIA to actually get to the canal. We had to jump a couple of walls, but fortunately we were running it, so no bikes.

The new extension starts right at the Pier Head, under the three famous buildings. It's all built, and is full of water. They are doing a test at the moment with pleasure boats being guinea pigs. Haven't heard of an official opening date - think that depends on the tests. But presumably the towpath won't be open till then.

Do it West to East - that way the prevailing wind will be behind you.

Fit mudguards to prevent getting covered in dog-sh!t when you ride through Burnley.

Develop martial arts skills to fight off chavs and pikeys when riding the urban bits.

    Find a better trip...

127 miles in 1 day would be very long.

I've done Keighley-Leeds, mostly a very nice route. I'm not sure how much west of Keighley is suitable for cycling though?
