Following a previous thread by Alfablue i bought a Fenix LeD torch and a twofish mount for a front light. I'm very pleased with it but feel I could do with a bit more as I commute in darkness, sometimes at 10.30 pm, as I work shifts. I'd rather not spend too much ie another L2D but have been recommended from another forum to have a look at dealextreme for a P7. I don't need strobes or umpteen different brightness settings as I will just turn it on and go. It is to work with the Fenix but if it looks completely different I might just get another Fenix to keep a cleaner looking set up.

What are opinions, pros and cons of the P7 or is there another set up i might be better looking at and keeping the Fenix as a torch????

PS I have read previous posts

I started off with the Fenix and was very happy with it.

Then I got a P7 and was blown away !

Keep the Fenix as its good for battery life - but really no point in running it at the same time as the P7.

As to the cleaner looking set up - forget that - just go for the best brightest set up. A dozy motorist isnt going to avoid you because your bike looks nice and tidy.

i would discourage anyone from buying a torch on ebay from china. if you want fenix youd be better off with the http://www.thephotonshop.co.uk/ as youve read other posts id guess youve seen shots of the tk11 (using the 18650 rechargable batterys) in use. id recommend it even tho it would be more expensive than dealextreme but youre going to get your stuff in 2days instead of 2 to 4 weeks. id say a p7 is only as good as a cree x4 , i disagree a p7 could light up a small village.

TK11 Turbo Mode is 225 Lumens.

L2D Turbo Mode is 180 Lumens.

I have the L2D and L20D and when they are on full - the P7 absolutely washes them out. The spread of the beam is far wider than the Fenix beam. I'd say that its not the 900 lumens it claims, but its got to be at the very least double the Fenix - maybe triple ?

OK - I've not used a TK11 - but from experience with the Fenix and the figures - the P7 should wipe the floor with it. And its cheaper too.

I have a Tk1 fenix, old model 225 Lumens and a TK20 at 150 Lumens. I also have a P7 and have to admit that the P7 is far better than either or both of the Fenix lights together. The spread of the P7 is fantastic, great wide beam. My commute is mainly unlit roads in nomans land and the P7 does an excellent job. I have colleagues who drive to work and actually comment on how bright my fron light is. Colleagues have likened it to a fog light. :D

Mine is the MTE 900 with just two modes - I thought that was easiest - full on, and then a lesser one thats just about fine for road riding. Sorry - cant remember which model it is.

    Ok which one???
I'm not sure what th edifference is....
16092 says it's got an aluminium reflector and a constant current driver
    12060 says it's got a plastic reflector

    Cougie's is probably this one
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12623

Note that on full power, battery life is likely to be about 50mins (iirc)
Don't forget a couple of 18650 batteries and a charger too (ordinary chargers are no good).

Yeah - if mine isnt that exact model - its v similar.

I got 4 batteries - I was thinking it took two batteries at a time - but its just the one. Typically my night rides off road are about two hours long or so - so just swap batteries at half way.

    Its an amazing torch.
