Just feeling sorry for myself - off work and all sports for a few weeks after dislocating (and putting back in) my knee in a footy match yesterday :-( :-(

Damn youtube for banning music this week!

I guess I'l start working my way through my DVD collection / working my way through my pay packet surfing the net for new bike stuff!

I thort a dislocated knee = operation due to all the tendons and muscles in the area!

My bro's been off work or about 5 weeks now, think he's spent alllll of his wages on bit for his car and bike  being ill is dangerous!!

i was ok because it went straight back into place. Just have to wait until its properly stable and then start building up exercise again.

Word of advice - when you get back on the bike, stick to spinning (slowly at first) smaller gears rather than grinding huge ones. Your knee will a: heal quicker b: not be borked by the time your 30.

I had both of mine dislocated at the same time (dammed toe clips and straps). Took a good nine months to heal properly.

Doing that is ridiculously annoying. Did it once in the kitchen and had to wait for my brother to stop laughing enough to pop them back in for me.
  • Ok, dislocating both knees is bad. Doing it in the kitchen!?

    ...go on, tell all!

    Hypermobility type EDS.

Fortunately, because I'm used to it, it does a lot less damage to me than it would to most people. I'll be on crutches for a day or so after dislocating a knee, after which I'll be fine.

Oh, and how I dislocated both knees in the kitchen? I was seeing how far I could do the splits, and the side loading on my knees caused them to collapse. Quite painful that one.

TBH, at the time it was the least of my worries. The rest of the injury list goes something like this:

    Fractured skull
    Broken nose
    Fractured Jaw
    Broken collar bone
    Various cracked ribs
    Dislocated both thumbs
    Broke left wrist
    Broke a few fingers
Broke right leg around thigh area
Broke left leg around shin area
    Broke both ankles
    Broke 3 or 4 toes

Oh and some minor cuts and bruises.

Now I must iterate, I've not done all those at once! Impressive!

Worse multiple was a car strike, landed on face, nose, jaw, teeth, shoulder, wrists, neck, chest and left nip!

Dislocated knees cane, can be bloody problematic too. Hope yours has gone back ok and regains some strength, don't over work it.

You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
