going to laggan at some point over the next week, my brother is coming, not as experienced but will find the green route a breeze, thinking he could maybe handle the red at GT, not comfortably but neither can i, how does it compare to Laggan's red?

all help appreciated

about the same technically, maybe slightly more dissicult. about a third of the length, although there are the 2 separate parts. somehow it seems less effort to do 3 laps at laggan than 1 at GT. the climb is quite direct with a well engineered descent.

Orange used to be Blue until it got sped up a bit.

Don't remember there being many rockeries at GlenTress,

At Laggan the old "lower" red is all walkable so if you head onto it and find he isn't too good on the rocks just walk them.
The Upper red deals with the rocks at the start and then lets you get on with the descent then dumps you back onto the fire trail with a few more rocks.

I don't like the northshore so tend to skip it in favour of either a fast descent on the green (turn right at the fire trail, past the restart of the red and its a few puddles down the hill) or pick up the "orange" blue (turn left at the fire trail junction and continue until you find it)

hm, you've probably been by now.
Of there next Tuesday/Wednesday, been trying to decide whether to go to Leanachan on Monday or Thursday, the SYHA bookngi site being down isn't helping me though.

  • didnt even end up going, we were more than entertained by the trails in and around Aviemore and Boat Of Garten, where we were staying, didnt make sense to have to fanny about getting to Laggan as we didnt have use of the car for the whole time.
