Hello People, Jason here. I used to ride Trials and have decided to start doing some trails, i got a nice Boardman 08 Team just wondering if anyone knows of any trails in Wiltshire? i live in Trowbridge theres some woods and I went for a ride but the paths are shite and end very abruptly into ditches, i really need some good places to ride. anyone know any around my area?

Hello Jason.
Head out towards Bradford-on-Avon or Westwood, there's good singletrack paths with hard climbs and technical, fun downhill sections on both sides of the valley between Bradford and Bath. Aim for Bath Uni/Claverton Down, try Sally-in-the-woods (browns folly)..get the 1:25000 OS map "Bristol and Bath" and follow the footpaths on both sides of the valley and you can string together a 25 mile ride with loads of variations possible so you don't get stuck with doing the same route every time.
There are a group of riders who meet opposite the Lock Inn cottage in Bradford at 7.15pm on a thursday evening who do a short version of these rides...sometimes longer in the summer...you'll need decent lights and beer money, as the ride ends in a beer session!0 -
nice 1 man thanks alot for the advice, can't t wait to check em outon my day off!0

Being from Trowbridge myself i'll be interested to see how you got on? Anything else you (or anyone local) know of thats in riding distance as I dont drive.
Its about time I started some proper Mountain Biking as opposed to all the Canal Biking I do :P0 -
lots not too far from you. rough ride guide south west guidebook has a ride on south east side of Bath that takes in the excellent rocky pipehouse lane. lots more great rides in there too.0

Hi (sorry for entering an old post)
Im From Melksham / Corsham and in a similar predicament.
Im 100% new to proper mountainbiking. so trying to ease myelf in (having tried to dump in with Whites Section at Afan... and just and just completed the climb (having almost died))
There is a Set Course in Calne called Spirthill Trail (google it) which is ok... for a go. but im after something a bit more rural... are there any routes for Sally in the woods?www.settingascene.com - MTBing in Wilts and the southwest, join up for info and ride details.0
