There's absolutely zip in the Flookburgh area, or any of the Grange/Levens/Holker for that matter. Grizedale or nothing I'm afraid!0

thanks, thats all i needed to know.
trusty old grizdale it is then.0 -
Can give you a good route from High Newton. 25 miles or so, ideal for a hardtail. There's quite a few routes round there, some better than others. have you got Memory Map?
Don't go to Grizedale, that's just a waste of a day.Frank Yates0 -
sorry no memory map.
high newton hey?0 -

You've obviously never ridden the natural in that area then! Some of the best riding in the Lakes.0 -
There's a decent(but a little tame) high newton route here http://www.mountain-bike-cumbria.co.uk/trails.php?id=highnewton Other than that you'd be best heading towards Grizedale, perhaps going over parka moor.0

Sorry, I mean't don't go and waste your day on NFT. I assumed that was what OP was intending to do. Agreed that the natural stuff in Grizedale is super, but you have to know it to find the best bits.
Re the above route...don't go in wet weather. It can be a sludgefest. I went over a lot of that a couple of weeks ago, and got so much mud that the wheels wouldn't turn! Good for a pleasant ride in the dry, but can be a bit tricky navigating round there.Frank Yates0 -
thanks all, appreciated0
