I use then off and on for no particular reason, with no problems. I always carry a mini tool
anyway so it's not a problem. I always use them when I do big mountain rides. Makes me feel a little more secure, but that my be only in my mind. Can't recommend a "brand" to you since I'm in the states and don't know what's available "over there". So basically I have
not helped at all. Just threw in my 2 cents worth(and maybe not even that).

I think mine will fit both. It's more of a thread length matter for the road bike and I'm
thinking that mine are long enougn to fit both(just a bit more thread sticking out
on the road bike - which you can cut off as i understand it.)

I've been told by a few now that aluminium acorn nuts are to be avoided and steel will grip better. I bought some Fisher Outdoor ones that turned out to be annodised aluminum but they've held ok. I do keep checking them though LOL.
All the ones I could find locally were aluminium it seems.0 -
i was gonna change to allen key skewers.....however, I came off the bike on a wet corner. My quick release skewer sacrificed itself to the tarmac but did save my frame from being ground down to nothing....
gonna keep my quick release now!...if i had changed to allen key skewers i'd have a large chunk off carbon missing!pain is temporary..... but it does hurt!0
