being a complete novice is it best to get some training to go on a course and do they do this at cannock ?? if so any idea when this takes place at all ..

i'd also be intersted in getting a run down of the basic bike mechanics in case of emergency ( no idea at the moment where to start if i get a puncture or chain came off !! )

any advice would be great and apologies for the very basic level of quesions ...

Cycle Active http://www.cycleactive.co.uk/ do courses at Cannock, but there are much less dates this year than last, I suspect the demand for this was not as anticipated last year. I dont doubt the quality as they are run by Chris Ford the bloke who does the skills in WMB.

If you are handy at all get a copy of the Big Blue Book of Cycle Repair by Park or look on http://www.parktool.com which is a good resource.

If you can, have a look in the rides section, find some people that are goin out near you and join them for the day. I'm sure they'd teach you some basic tips if you struggled with anythin and if you have a problem such as a puncture, they'd help you out for certain.
