I have just bought a new set of Mavic Kysrium Equipe wheels, I had Shimano 105s but just want to try and move up the level of my equipment bit by bit. Have a BH GC2 with an Aluminum and Carbon frame and Carbon Forks, Shimano 105 Groupset and pedals with FSA handlebars which are prob standard. Could anyone give me some advice on what would make a difference performance wise. Would love to just buy a new bike but need to put in a few more miles in on this one first. Any help would be appreciated.

Tyres, tubes,Bottom bracket a good chain a well maintained bike and possible some good stiff shoes depending on what you are using now.

What tyres have you got on? Depending on what you're using at the moment, tyres can make a massive difference. Michelin Pro Race 3's or Contin GP400S' are a good bet.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

there you go then - replace the litions for some decent tyres - they make a massive difference - you could probably save as much weight as your wheel change by moving to some better tyres and tubes - I recenlty bought and love the Vittoria Open Corsa Evos - but pro race3 are very highly rated if you want to stick with michelin.

Wouldnt bother with anything past the tyres to be honest - you wont notice any improvement from anything else really.

Either save for a brand new bike, or spend it on kit and clothing for you. Track pump is good, then some cool shades. Sorted....

I like them. Traded in my Shimano set for them. They are definitely stronger, thought there was a lot of flex in the Shimano. I am a big lad though.
  • Thanks for that. Going to LBS on Saturday to get them. Will keep the R500's to put on winter bike.
  • How about some bling (and powerful) brakes? I have some Bontrager Speed Limits that saw just five days use last week before being removed ;)
