I like my V brakes and dont want discs.
I currently have Scott Comp V brakes and wish to upgrade.
I realise that V brakes can clog in mud.
How do the Cylocross lads cope are their Vs wider?
What V brakes can you reccomend please?

They have a team that sorts their bikes every lap! Lol.

A different v will not help much with mud clogging. Tyres might though.

Better pads may help imrpve muddy rims. Try koolstop Eagle Claw.

Most of the Kool Stop pads I've used have got that "plow" type section on the rear, which I presume helps (at least a little) to remove mud from the rim before it gets sandwiched 'twixt the brake pad and the metal surface.

But since I only ride my CXer on the road for commuting I couldn't attest to it's effectiveness, however I agree with supersonic that different brakes won't make a lot of difference because any mud clogging will be the same on all V-brakes, it's just a drawback of the design.

    Thanks.
Guess its time to have a look at pads.
So do more expensive V brakes improve stopping power?
After all the pad is no bigger.
Or am i paying for a reduction in weight only?

    they can do.

have a look at the shimano parallel pus ones and the Avid "Arch rivals"

Supersonic you say certain tyres might help.
Do you mean use somthing super narrow like a 1.5" ?

Just a known tyre that doesn't clog up.
