I like my V brakes and dont want discs.
I currently have Scott Comp V brakes and wish to upgrade.
I realise that V brakes can clog in mud.
How do the Cylocross lads cope are their Vs wider?
What V brakes can you reccomend please?

They have a team that sorts their bikes every lap! Lol.
A different v will not help much with mud clogging. Tyres might though.
Better pads may help imrpve muddy rims. Try koolstop Eagle Claw.0 -
Most of the Kool Stop pads I've used have got that "plow" type section on the rear, which I presume helps (at least a little) to remove mud from the rim before it gets sandwiched 'twixt the brake pad and the metal surface.
But since I only ride my CXer on the road for commuting I couldn't attest to it's effectiveness, however I agree with supersonic that different brakes won't make a lot of difference because any mud clogging will be the same on all V-brakes, it's just a drawback of the design.0 -
Thanks.
Guess its time to have a look at pads.
So do more expensive V brakes improve stopping power?
After all the pad is no bigger.
Or am i paying for a reduction in weight only?0 -
they can do.
have a look at the shimano parallel pus ones and the Avid "Arch rivals""Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Supersonic you say certain tyres might help.
Do you mean use somthing super narrow like a 1.5" ?0 -
Just a known tyre that doesn't clog up.0
