Hi there
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but does anyone out there ride with this club? I am looking to start riding in a local group and I need a little shove to get going.
I have experience of longish rides, a sportive under my belt and an average speed which is creeping up but still pretty slow by most "roadie" standards. I commute a couple of times a week a 24 mile round trip.
Cheers!
<skulks off back to commuting where she belongs>

Hi there, i've ridden with sotonia on a couple of sunday morning club runs.
They go from North Baddesley at 9.30.
Depending on numbers they go off in 2 or 3 groups.
There will be a fast/intermediate group,av speed 18-20 mph which will be around the sixty mile distance, and there will be a slower group going at around 14-16 mph i guess and around 40-50 miles.
There's a welcome cafe stop at half way and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
I have been doing a lot of my training by myself but riding with a group is a lot of fun and the miles seem to fly by.
Another bonus is that some of the guys ride sportives so you can meet up and ride them together.
I would reccomend joining a cycling club to get the most out your riding and if you live in the southampton area, why not join sotonia?
By the way,if you want to go along to a club run you don't have to be a member. You can just go out with the guys and see how you get on.
Hope this is useful.Maybe see you on the road.

Thanks for that - I live in Southampton in fact so it is the obvious option!
Planning a sheepish first visit this Sunday morning (weather permitting - I have done more rides in pants weather than I care to remember lately)
