I bought a Bianchi Via Nirone Sora last year and had been using it for commuting on country roads until the winter started. At the end of October the tractors shed their excess mud onto the road and cycling that way was impossible on 23c tyres, so I opted to cycle on the main, derestricted roads.
Last night I ordered a Focus Mares Disc as it was on offer for £699 and I've been hankering after one for a while.

My ears have only just stopped ringing from telling my wife about the purchase. I reckon for that spec it was quite a good deal. So soon I'll be able to cycle my old route (much safer) on the knobbly tyres and have a summer bike too.
I now realise that you get what you pay for with groupsets and the Sora set leaves a lot to be desired, so I plan, at some stage, to upgrade to a Campag group at some point (probably Centaur). I still love the look and ride of the Bianchi and I reckon the frame is worthy of the upgrade.
So to get to my questions:
What is the most narrow tyre that will fit onto the Focus Mares Disc wheels? I can try to fit the 23c's off the Bianchi but I think they'll be too narrow for the wheel.
Which are the best full mudguards (in black) to go for? I think I'll need to use P-clips but it should be quite straight forward as there are no brakes to get in the way.
