hey all, new to forum so HI
was wondering if anyone could help me out with this, Ive got myself a 2007 Merida am 800 d, its got a RockShox Ario 2.1 on the back and i believe its around the 120-130mm travel mark, does anyone know what the maximum travel i can get out of this bike is? or if its even 'doable' going for longer travel? originally bought it for just XC and works great for that, but Ive started doing a bit of free ride stuff and was thinking a bit more travel might help, maybe.
if anyone has some advice will be much appreciated.
cheers
Tom

In short no, you'll need new rocker plates to get more travel, and then the compressions ratios will be all wrong, so you'll still need a new shock.
Stick with it, add a little more air, and look at possibly stronger wheels, as they'll be what fail first...0 -

OK fair enough, that makes sense. Didn't think it would work to be honest just thought I'd check. Its got Alex Rims - Supra FRX wheels wrapped in Maxxis Ignitors, with Deore hubs and DT Swiss rotor holder thingy's. I'd say they are fairly strong for the stuff I'm doing, i.e. 2-3 foot drops max. but I'm no expert so we will see. Ha ha.0 -
Max travel it was you say. You can't up it.0
