Why do Campag say the best way to fit the BB is hand tight with Loctite 243? Whereas the LBS say use a spanner and assembly grease.

Its in case your frame hasn't been faced. If you only do them hand tight then the chances of them going out of line are reduced.
I personally used a bottom bracket tool and tightened them up.My frame was faced though.

Would a Cervelo frame be faced?

Having had one come loose, I'd got for Loctite 243 and a torque wrench - more of a problem with Italian threaded BBs
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • It's Loctite 222 not 223 that's recommended. I had to source some. Not only does it prevent unscrewing of the cups (more of a problem on italian threads) it also prevents the cups seizing in the frame. A correctly faced frame should also improve the bearing life. Cups should be done up with the tool.

Basically, just do it exactly like the instructions tell you. Then if it doesn't work it's Campagnolo's fault and not yours!
