Not too expensive. What will I get for what price. Cheers

  • Will a standard Shimano Octalink type BB fit? I know I used an ISIS type tool to get mine off to replace with an external type BB. You can pick up the LX version from CRC for about £20. It'll last about a year with moderate riding but they're so cheap you can probably afford to replace it a couple of times a year if necessary. Not as stiff as they might be but for £20, who's complaining?

  • No it's got to be ISIS. Don't really know which to get. Certainly don't wanna spend too much for the time being. There's superstar ones for twenty off quid but not sure about them. I use there brake pads which are fine.
  • I'd certainly steer clear of Race Face, Crank Bros and FSA. Their external BB bearings and seals seem to go rather more quickly than other brands and you pay for the name and the anodising that you only get to see while you install it! Other than that, can't help too much, sorry.

Truvativ are not to bad,Had a couple in the past think they were about £25 each. SKS get good reviews but never tried myself have a look on CRC :D
  • Well......I've done something I've never really done before......it may have been the wrong thing to do but.... I went to my lbs and they've sold me an FSA one with external bearings. Will this work? With my meta 5.5.2 and middleburn crankset. It is ISIS and the right measurements.
  • I wasn't aware that you could buy BBs in ISIS with external bearings. Do you have the FSA model number?
