    Gazzetta reporting Ballan possibly out with fever Ballan has a 38 degree fever. He went out to preview the course, but felt really bad and returned to the hotel after 30 kilometers. Gazzetta’s comment is that though Lampre entered him on the start list, his participation looks to be “only a dream.”

    CN says "World Champion Alessandro Ballan's participation in the Monte Paschi Eroica on Saturday is in doubt after he fell ill. Ballan complained of a stomach ache and curtailed his training to return early to his Lampre-NGC team's hotel in Asciano, Italy, on Friday. Doctor Andreazzoli subsequently visited the Ballan and diagnosed him with a virus, which is also causing a fever. Ballan, along with his managers and the team's medical staff, will decide on Saturday morning whether he will start the race."

    Wow, an impressive piece of punditry from FJS, who was the only person to predict that Thomas Lovkvist would get his 1st win in two years! Nice.

    Slim pickings elsewhere, largely thanks to the non-performances by Alessandro Ballan and Pippo Pozzato. millar time and csp had Boasson Hagen for 4th, csp had Gerdemann for 5th, and me and LangerDan had Visconti for 6th. That was it.
