Problem with the gear/brake cables

Hi there

I have a massive dilemma. Underneath the topbar of the frame, there are 3 (dont know what they are called) metal things where the rear cable goes in, plus the front and rear derailer cables sit too.

The problem is the centre metal things hasn't got a place where the metal cap sits (the end of the black cables), I'm a bit confused with this.

Do you see what I mean?

The black cable does fit perfectly in the centre metal thingey, so I am wondering whether you have black cable in centre and 2 exposed (just the wire) on the outer 2???

Really Confused, Please Help

The middle one is for running hydraulic brake hose which are fully sheathed from the lever to the caliper. If you`re running V`s you`ll have to run them in the same way.

    What bike?

My Trek has the 2 gear cables exposed down the top tube with the housed brake cable running up the middle.

Pretty sure I've seen some sort of cable stop for using cables in hydro hose guides. Wiggle CRC perhaps?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Thanks for the help guys !

Yeah, I realised shortly after posting that the middle one was a sheathed connection.

I didn't know it was for the brake though, cheers.

I am rebuilding a saracen frame (x-ile or x-cell or something like that!) :P

Will get some new cable, thanks for the advise
