Strong and cheap wheelset

Hi there guys,

I am a bit fed up of my Alex22 rims that came with my Giant SCR2 (going out of true!) and am looking to upgrade to a slighlty better wheelset. I need them to be very strong due to me being 6'7" tall and 15 stone 12 pounds. So a heavy and tall bloke, the roads/cycle paths I use have also got a decent amount of potholes so I need something robust and strong. Of course the lighter the better but I am not prepared to compromise on durability.

I have seen the Quest Como but are they any better than my ones?

Max budget is £150 not a penny higher am afraid (thats including pushing!!!)

i had the same problem with the Alex 22 rims, I brought a pair of mavic askiums and have had no problems with them.
if you look about you can get a pair for £125

so, should I go to my bike shop and ask about hand built wheels?

what do you reckon of the mavic aksiums for £115?

The bikeradar home page has pieces about Mach 1 and Fulcrum wheels at just over £100. Does anybody have experience of these makes ?

it is! I have been looking at those reviews but none focus on the weight of the rider (something that I know from the club guys that is important) so no really that useful anyway

I've used the same pair of Mavic Askiums for commuting for the past two years - not had a single problem.

Thanks guys, I am going to get a 2009 pair at the end of the month I will get the LBS to install them though
