Rust on my bolts after a year?

Hey

I bought a Focus superbud 2008 from wiggle.

But I noticed a couple months ago that the bolts on the full suss points are going rusty.

I have emailed wiggle and they advised no bolts are stainless steel.

I look after my bike and dry and wd-40 and lub if it gets wet.

Is this normal? They guy paul mort at wiggle advised I should have put clear nail varnish on the bolts... Well that does not help me now.

Can someone advise, as they are saying if I want more I will need to pay for them.

Thanks guys

So can I get the rust off somehow? Or just leave as its too much work and the rust will not eat through the bolts.

    Thanks

strip and clean and refit with a smear of grease on the heads. or some Vasiline. or replace with stainless/Ti/carbon etc,

Or just dont worry and ride the bike.

You can sand it off, coat with a bit of grease. They don't usually eat through.

You can get stainless bolts, but generally are not as strong.

Doubt I would be able to find ti bolts to fit as they dont look like normal bolts.

Might leave them and see how I get on.

Im sure wiggle will charge an arm and a leg for the bolts.

    Thanks again guys

The bloke in the local bolt shop tells me everytime I go there how he gets people in the shop buying better bolts for their £2k bikes that are supplied with 2p bolts. I've experienced bolt heads that are as hard as cheese
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Use wire wool to remove the rust and then try something like "Bike Spray" after each ride to drive any moisture out and protect.

:) Or alternatively, dont worry about it... It happens to the vast majority of steel bolt head and does not pose a problem... Its only a light coat of surface rust.
These are BIG bolts but if they look remotely like this (they dont! :) ) Then they should be changed.

You need a cotton bud and some chain oil.

Soak the bud in oil and smear it inside and all over the bolt bingo no more rust on your bolts
