Hello guys

I'm a bit confused about brakes. I use Xt v brakes they are very good but a few mates say get rid and get disc and others say do not bother.
It seems a big cash lay out if there is no great benifit over the Vs.
Any ideads?

Has always thanks :)

What bike do you ride, what style of riding, and what conditions?

Are they letting you down in any way?

Properly set up V-brakes are outstanding. They don't have the ultimate stopping power of discs on fast or sustained DH but for XC they are fine. I have used XTR V-brakes on my Proflex since 2003 and apart from occasional pad replacement they require no attention.

I Have a GF wahoo I upgraded the fork to XC 500 ETA 2008 and I mainly do cross country in any conditions and so far they have stopped me well (even last week when I was unlucky enuff to suffer two flats down a hill :D ).

i would keep with the V´s as you seem to be happy with them.

yeah if you're happy with the performance at the mo, then why add weight and expense..save it till you get a new bike

Stick with the Vs. Don't forget, if your current bike isn't disk ready you'll need to buy new hubs as well. A lot of hassle and expense if you're not unhappy with your current setup.
