...at the bottom of Ralph Allen/Prior Park road? I had a nasty off their yesterday and reckon it was down to diesel rather than stupidity! Just wondered if anyone else from round these parts has been caught out by a mysteriously slippery bend?

Hi Rob, left you a reply on the blog page, just incase its quicker heres the link again:

Might help others out if this can be brought through. Too much in the way of spillages out there and no one being held account. Nearly had an off myself today, went to stop at some lights and just slid on through. Back wheel just stopped over the line so had to roll it back, lol!
Always when its wet too.0 -
Have fun pulling the hair out of those leg gashes Rob.

Tuck and roll? Didnt work for my Dad's mate, he slipped on ice and rolled over his bar end and nearly puctured his lung. Has been recovering from 2 broken ribs since december.0

Scratch that then, i have come off before and managed to roll and stand strait up after with no probs But i,also, have had punctured lung/broken rib, i have also had busted collarbone(rib/lung not cycling related, incidentally) so maybe a few scrapies are worth it

i rarely cycle in baf anymore, but a couple of years ago i had some gimp in a bmw park his car in my lane while pretending to turn right on london road.
i did a good roll off the bike at about 20mph and into the side of his motor. lots of witnesses, apologetic pillock and little harm done (bike ok, me grazed and bruised only)
rob, i don't know about ralph allen, but i've heard that there is a nasty drain cover on claremont road apparently, if you are going down the hill it is positioned perfectly to unseat you in the wet. i hope you recover quickly and don't lose any confidence on the bike as a result of the off.
we don't get these sorts of problems in chippers, the freshly ploghed tarmac provides natural grip in all weathers.0
