My apologies

Please indulge me

I need to offer an apology. Alst night at approx. 7.15pm on my way home, I swore loudly at a young female cyclist. She turned right on to Teddington High Street, straight in front of me and approaching traffic. The older chap with her, probably here father waited at the junction. I did swear at her and use the f word.

I know it's a long shot, but If you're reading this I do apologise for my language. In my defence, it was only as I overtook you I realised you may only have been 14 or 15. You're riding was pretty shocking though.

Thanks.

This goes a small way to assuaging my guilt. £5 in the Comic Relief tin and I'm all square. Aren't I? I do feel bad though :(

Why worry? If your expletives make her think next time before does something stupid, it might be what saves her from going under a bus.

I'm kind of the same - I'll have a very short lived explosion and then calm down.

I think that while it's worth while telling people when they are cycling poorly, use of the 'f' word went too far (as it does with me... hence my habit of saying 'fecking' as it makes me THINK about what I am saying)

Hey you acknowledged you went too far, and of you ever see them again you might be able to apologise in person

I commend Fat Kid for his attempt at an apology but I don't and won't support those who claim that swearing at other cyclists is acceptible.

Wouldn't it have been better to use your experience and knowledge to offer advice so that she could become a better cyclist?

Agreed. She may have had her feelings hurt but you or her could have ended up in the hospital or worse. The F word does much less damage than being flattened by a car or bus. Don't be too hard on yourself. Although it is nice to see someone like yourself with a conscience about offending others.
