Tyres for trail centers/local rides??

Hi guy's, i realize alot of these threads come up but i want to spend my money on the right thing.
I'm currently running bontrager 2.0 mud-x tyres, very happy with them for the mud! However as it's beginning to dry out, or will be soon fingers crossed, i'd like something slightly wider and not so mud orientated.
My main riding is in the Kent area and Swinley forest so ballast type dirt, some a little loose and the occasional mucky patch.
I also ride on roads for some of the rides i do so something that rolls ok (as good as the bonty's) would be nice.
I also don't want anything too heavy, ideally around the 600g mark.
I suppose you'd just call my type of riding...all mountain, trails, single-track with drops and jumps.
On my list are:
Maxxis Advantage 2.1, folding, 60a compound
Schwable nobby nic 2.25 folding, evo casing
Continental mountain king 2.2, not sure which version
I like the advantage as it's reasonably priced, not too heavy but i'm unsure on durability for drops, rocky terrain, wear rate etc
The schwable has mixed reviews (as does every tire!) but there is a general consensus that they sidewalls are too think and vulnerable to splitting and pinch punctures, they also wear quite fast by the sounds of it.
Not sure about the Conti, again mixed reviews.
What would you recommend?
Thanks
Hugh

Speed King might be a better bet.0

I'd go for either the Advantage or Maxxis Ignitor0

second the maxxis ignitor's.
i got these in 2.1 tyres. i was having grip trouble on the trails at glentress scotland.
got a set of these run them @ 40psi.never looked back.also get good grip in the mud and are quick clearing....0 -
I posted almost an identical thread - my main riding is trail centre type tracks also... also riding mud-x now too!
I was recommended Maxxis High Rollers - a popular choice is the sticky front and harder wearing back (42 and 60 I believe). 2.35 seems to be good for a large grippy footprint....
Problem I have is I want to run UST - the 2.35 High Roller UST seems only to come in the sticky 42 compound....0 -
Mountain King 2.2s are rubbish tyres in my opinion, on totally dry hard pack they're fine but the Nobby Nics for example will have a bit more volume, they'll roll as fast and have more grip. MK 2.2s should have been called Road-with-the-occasional-piece-of-gravel-at-most Kings (2.2).
I think if you emailed Continental and asked 'are your Mountain King 2.2 tyres crap?' they'd say 'yes they are, is there anything else I can help you with today'. (2.4s are supposed to be much much better though, consider them a different tyre).
They just pitched the Mountain King 2.2 wrong, its more of an XC tyre. Kenda Nevegal 2.1 DTCs ??? Schwalbe Albert 2.25 ??? just a couple of other suggestions0 -
