Just had a look at the latest round of goodies, oh my ............... very deep pockets are
required. The Coppi 50 yr 'Campionissimo' Jersey is gorgeous, not to mention the
'Tweed caps' and the Soigners Bag, all coming to a sportive near you.

Now how to get this past Mrs Oakley :o

Love em or hate em, you cannot argue with the marketing, and the current craze for
all things retro. Go on you know you want it!!:lol::lol:

Cycling..... buying things you don't really need, with money you don't really have!!

but darling, retro is soooo 2006. Every rider and their dog has an off the shelf fixie and even in the dull 'burbs you can't cycle for 5 minutes without smelling damp merino.

Us real hipsters are doing carbon rims, Campag 11 speed and stealth skinsuits 8)

Tweed caps with a racing stripe, am sure that's breaking some unwritten rule..

Prices up for these now, the Bianchi-alike shirt,160 quid. Tweed caps 35.

/orders 2 Walz caps for the same price as 1 Rapha, without the dodgy stripe to boot.

The Coppi shirt is very beautiful, and hand-made in Scotland. At 160 quid, I suspect it was hand-made by Fred Goodwin! :D

Talking of high prices - have you seen the Cervelo Test Team Kit - £80 for a SS top ?

They must be testing our gullibility ! (ha - see what I did there ?)

I just wouldn't buy anything Rapha, once you have experienced their customer service, you will know what I mean!

    why whats wrong with it?

I bought my first rapha product the other week - the lightweight softshell in the feb. sale. - i ordered the large having tried a medium a few weeks earlier in condor and thinking it was a little 'slim' - but the large arrived and was bigger than I expected. I called them and asked if I could order a medium to try at the same time or send the large back but try and get it sorted before the sale ended (in, like, a day - this was the 27th of feb!) - they were very friendly and helpfu.

Rapha's customer service has been second to none for me.

My Classic Sportwool jersey had an issue where the colour on the back (black jersey) faded after a couple of summers use and a couple of hot weeks in Spain and France.

Rapha said to send it back and they would take a look, I received a brand new jersey 2 days later. The one I sent back was almost 2 years old.

I have never had other than excellent sevice from Rapha.

With reference to being able to get 2 Walz caps for the price of one Rapha cap, that means you would end up with 2 walz caps which is twice as bad as having one. That floppy peak that doesn't flip up properly sends me crazy. Looks nice sat on the side with my other caps though

  • I also cannot praise Raphas customers service enough. When I crashed and ripped my Rapha waterproof, I sent it to them and it was repaired and posted back free of charge.

love some of the stuff on the rapha website, gilet, arm warmers etc, but dont you thing it is all a bit self indulgent..in a Fellini 1950's torch movie stylee? Also, it seems to be a gentlemens club only.

And Im not wearing a tweed cap or brown leather gloves on my Litespeed. Sorry just can't be done.

Didn't mention anyone dying, just having a bit of light ribbing. You can't seem to have a bit of a pisstake on here without some victor mature jumping all over it. No more laughs, all serious, no more opinions etc, too much like hard work.

thanks DaSy you have un-done my day, no offence meant to anyone with my previous comment, apologies if it did....

Cycling stuff is already expensive as it is to go an buy from the even more expensive just because.

I don't think their stuff looks that great, not at least for that amount of money. I suppose some people here have got more money than sense!!! :D

If you look in the Oxford English Dictionary I'm sure this would be the definition of ironic!

You seem a little easily offended to ever enjoy a day on a cycling forum.

I really wasn't offened by your comment either, I mean it really would take a lot more than that...

I will try harder to offend next time DaSy, mind you familiararity breeds contempt, you seem to have roused it in me without being familiar, nice one !

Do enjoy this forum as well, dont think you have seen enough of me posting to mention irony, context is a clue if you know what I mean.....

I was taken by their 3/4 length shorts - but went for the DHB versions instead - prob just as well as saved £100 and I'm very impressed with the quality of the DHBs.

I'm sure I paid more for my Santini knickerbockers when I bought them - donkeys years back.....

dmclite - the ironic statement I referred to was that you reacted in your words as "some victor mature" to my light hearted statement about what I wear on my Litespeed, I don't think I need to cross refer to previous posts as the irony was contained within that one statement.

Victor Mature was a Hollywood actor - surely you mean Victor Meldrew..? or have I completely missed the point....

When you have to start explaining light hearted statements all the light heartedness is cancelled out. Shame.
