No. Next race is Flanders I think.0

Cheers for that'Do not compare your bike to others, for always there will be greater and lesser bikes'0

No, he's not doing Flanders.
Bailed out.
Odds on him not starting the Giro must be shortening....Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Bah. What a wimp.0

Is he doing the Criterium International? He was slated for that a while ago.0

Here you go Afx, you can pretend. Here's my version of the race report
"Armstrong finishes 72'nd in Flanders"
Lance successfully finished the Ronde in a highly credible 72nd place. Riding a bee-like Trek he toiled in the middle of the peloton for the whole race surrounded by the Astana team.
The race was won by someone Swiss.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
You should get a job working for the BBC sports website!
There must be enough cancer awareness in Belgium already. Unlike other less developed countries. Like Australia. And the USA.0 -
Dauphine Libere anyone?
Much more important that he takes an extended "beach holiday", or maybe a quick shopping trip to Bologna, "preparing" to lose those 7lbs of excess flab.
Far better than keep the pounds on, racing hard."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
LA does not take "beach holidays". He takes "beach cancer awareness initiatives".0

... Im beginning to wonder if Lancey-Pansey will do a vanishing act as the season progresses...
There are few "high points" in the year where Lance can bask in the highs of fans unquestioning adoration. Tour of California and Down Under are two such events... AFter those it is all the "hum-drum" European races, where the fans are more hardcore. After watching his performance in California, it is clear that Lance will struggle later on when the real fit young guys will be turning on the gas... Honestly, I dont think he will stick it if he is getting pasted in every race ... He is going to look pathetic**************************************************

And in which of the years 1999-2005 was he flying in February?Le Blaireau (1)0

That is a half point... But never before has Lance set out in the early season with the same aggression to do well as he is doing this yeat.
In the years 1999-2005 I never saw the pained expression on Lance's face that I saw this year. The guy is past it.**************************************************

That's true but he's playing catch-up for the years he's been out and this may be his strategy to shorten the curve. I guess we'll see in the coming months!Le Blaireau (1)0

Also the latest is that he'll do Milan-San Remo and then the Trofeo Castille y Leon in Spain.0 -
With all due respect to the 2004 Tour of the Algarve, I'm guessing the field wasn't as competitive as the 2009 Tour of California. 2nd and 3rd in that TT were his teammates Landis and Pena.Le Blaireau (1)0

On that basis then you could say the same thing about Basso,Sastre and a few others notable names who were finishing minutes down every other day.the TOC is what it is an early season jolly, while i agree LA did look a little bit portly i dont read too much into early season races particularly races pre-cobbles.
MGGasping - but somehow still alive !0 -

Mmm 2000 Joux Plane,2003 Cap D TT, and the stage when he had to hang on for grim death to wheel of Ivan Basso his face looked like a well skelpit erse ! Translation : like a backside that has been slapped :-) But anyway i digress he probably is past it but not on the evidence of the TOC.

Astana have announced he'll ride Milan-San Remo, followed by Castilla y Leon, as Bertie requested."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

That'll be an interesting meet-up between Bertie and Lance. Castilla y Leon normally has a TT and mountain stage in it; Contador won it last year. Looking forward to him confirming his authority again.
That said, I don't get all the posts that suggest Armstong has been dissappointing up til now. Did anyone really seriously expect it to be like 1999-2005 again, dominating where he wanted? By what deluded standards can his TOC have been a dissapointment/relief? I think he has done pretty well at the TOC for an old guy making a come back. I still don't think he will be competitive when it counts though.0
