Sorry mate, not sure of acomodation as I live a short distance away (if that makes sense).
Is it as good as they say??
It depends what your after. LLandegla is quite family friendly and as a result gets very busy of a weekend so if possible I would aim to go mid week.
As for the trails there's nothing too technical apart from the boardwalks which I hate. If its raining or damp its best to give them a wide birth as they get very slippy. The rest of the trails are OK. The red runs pose no worries whatsoever and the black runs are not really black at all. On the whole I would say that it is more of a family orieniated center aimed at families.
If you want something a bit more inspiring then head down to LLanwrist its only half an hour away and there you'll find the Marin trail which is a much better propsition for someone with a bit of experience it also makes you feel like your in the middle of no where it'll take around 3hrs to get round.
On the whole I would say LLandegla is a little bit bland and once you've been a couple of times it gets slightly boring. Its a good way to pass a couple of hours (keep fit) but It never feels like an adventure like it does when you go to LLanwrist or Coed y Brenin.0 -

Thanks, I'm not really much of a Fan of Coed, I found it frustrating, I couldn't really get up to full attack speed before there was another 2mph rocky corner and you seem to have to do the same climb multiple times at the start and end of every trial. You can tell it was designed and built back in the day when everyone rode a short travel hard tail or rigid.
Shame, I really like the Black section of whites and the downward pointing bits of the black at Brecfa.
Still think we'll do it, probably a day at Llandegla on the Red and Black and head down to the Marin and try that.
I tell you what, it's great living so close to Afan, Brecfa and Cwmcarn (not to mention all the South Wales DH tracks we're starting to try) but you've got to go pretty far to find a new trail that's as good!0 -
Yeah, give it a go just dont expect anything technical.
The nearest village is Coedpoeth but there is no B n B as far as I know (theres a Spa for essentials and a pub). Have a look at this link .

its just a list of B n B's in Ruthin which is about 7miles away. Basically you have a choice of staying in Wrexham or Ruthin, Ruthin being the most picturesque whilst Wrexham has a small town centre which is surrounded by industrial estates. Oh and just in case you haven't seen it heres a link to the LLandegla site.

Have fun!!0 -
Llandegla does get busy at the weekend but its still good fun! The so called 'black sections' aren't technical but they are fast and flowing with plenty of opportunity for air time if you're into that sort of thing.
The blue route is also worth a quick blast if you have the time!
Personally I would skip the Marin trail and do Penmachno instead. The Marin trail, in my opinion, is the lamest of the North Wales man made trails (and nowhere near as much fun as Llandegla!). Penmachno is about a 10 minute drive away from the Marin and features a higher single track / fireroad ratio. That said, some people love Penmachno (me!) while others hate it :?
Not sure about accomodation as I live locally but I can tell you that Wrexham is a wild Saturday night out if you are into that sort of thing

Only places I've stayed near Llandegla are Ruthin Castle or the Ramada Plaza at Wrexham. Both nice, but not exactly cheap or biker friendly...0

Penmachno is really good, def worth a visit from Llandegla. Llandegla is good fun for a couple of hours with loads of jumps etc but it won't keep you occupied all day really.0

Thanks for all the info Chaps.
TBH the type of stuff we like is the table tops/Berms/woops kinda thing rather than the traditional/honest to goodness mtb fayre, we're a bunch of tarts really.
We''ll get a Marin and a Penmachno in too. Really looking forward to it now/ Last year was a bit of a downer really, Coed didn't seem to be anywhere near as good as I remembered it. We found Climachx on the last day and liked that, but I managed to have a big old off on the first run at it and bruise my Cocix and Pelvis pretty badly which meant end of sports (and an incredibly painfull drive back to Cardiff).0 -
I drove through Llandegla village today and the Crown Inn is advertising B&B, it's only 1 mile from the trails. 1/2 a mile further away is Bodidris Hall which is a bit smart but has a banner outside advertising B&B for £10! Seems too good to be true and the usual 'Ts&Cs' apply but might be worth checking these out.0
