Most of it is footpath so it's off limits. However we now have a Peninne bridleway as well, starts near Buxton, not sure how far north it goes at the moment but it certainly goes up to Settle.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

yeh it starts at middleton top and follows a different line then the actual pennine way, as stumpy said dunno how far it goes but it does plan to go all the way upto the north east by 2012 or somthing like that. ive ridden parts of it around holling worth lake near roch dale , both ways and its generally all weather ridable , 6ft wide hardpack fast tracks , a few boggy bits but alot of ups and downs.

    check it out .

The Pennine way is all FP(98%) apart from Cam high road in the Yorks Dales(i know this as my parents at Camm farm just off the PW)the Pennine BW as stated runs from middleton top to settle(130miles).It will however run over 300 miles when complete and finish(as does the Pennine way)in the Scottish borders.
  • As stated above, the Pennine Way is essentially a footpath and you are not allowed to ride a bike on it (you could push a bike along it though). The next best thing is the Pennine Bridleway:
