The Hope SPXC3 wheels have been fine.
I am not a "hard core" rider, but they have been through one fairly big "off" and were fine:

They made a big improvement over my the standard wheels (saved around 0.5 kg when you include the weight of the different rotor).
I weigh just under 13 stone.
Will be interested to see how well they perform with summer rubber on them too!0 -

Don't worry - I still have it - the Thudbuster is there until I am all sorted health wise!
It does make the ride much more comfy though, and only 200-250g more...
I could save that by getting the Ti spindles for my wellgos, or maybe some new lighter wheels... 8)0 -
Thank God! You had me worried there for a moment
How much does the Ti Spoon weigh? I'm after new seat soon (i have the chromo one at the mo), and i'm thinking along the lines of an SLR Ti but they're £100!0 -

Shows it as 246g
Mine is the leather version, although you can get synthetic too.0 -
Soon (next month or so) to be replacing tyres with these:
http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20travel%20contact.shtml
Will add a very small amount of weight, but should massively reduce rolling resistance while I am resigned to road duties, and they are alledgedly puncture-protected with a years guarantee - £40 a pair with tubes - can't be bad?
Also will probably be getting a Hope 25 deg 70mm stem to give me a more upright position.
Just have to "hope" I don't get the Hope bug and replace my Avids with some of the new XC Race ones for when I am back off road.
At that point, the wife gets the Thudbuster and I am back on the Thomson
She will probably get the Hope stem to replace her basic Giant one.... but in the mean time I bought her these:
Funky See-Through Wellgos

Well, the bike has been sat in the garage since about October 2009. I had hoped that after the operation on my neck, I would be able to get back on the bike. Unfortunately, I am still in a lot of pain, and unable to cycle
It really is a shame as I built the bike up as best I could, and then can't ride it.
I am in two minds as to whether to sell it, and buy a new bike when I am fit enough to be able to cycle again, or keep it for when I am ready.
What do you reckon?0 -
Back cycling again - only on the road though.
I have made a few alterations to the bike to make it easier to ride on the road:
Shorter 50mm Thomson stem
Thomson seat post back on (wife now has the Thudbuster LT)
Conti Travel Contact Tyres
Cane-Creek Ergo-Grip II bar ends
Shimano XT brakes - the Avid's were looking quite old
The bike is more comfortable to ride now, but contemplating a switch to a road/CX style bike until I can manage off-road again.0 -
If you have neck issues then a road/CX bike will likely aggravate it, I'd be wanting to try them first. Something like a Spesh Secteur/Roubaix may give a high enough front end - they do have headtubes roughly 30 foot long.0

A few changes to the Stumpy:
Brakes are now XT M785
Gears are now XT M775 9 Speed with XTR cables and the XTR M970 crankset
Bar is now Thomson Carbon XC flat bar
Stem is currently a Thomson 50mm 0 deg, but about to change to a 70mm 10 deg
Seat post clamp is a Thomson too
Current bike weight is 11kg
Tempted to get a Thomson dropper too...
I went for a Canyon Endurace CF8.0 road bike back in January which is going really well too0
