Cycling in provence + trains/experiences?

Hello,
I am off to do some cycling in Provence in July/August. The way I understand carrying bikes on the train is that you are allowed to carry biles on all TER's. Is that information still correct? If so, are there many suitable trains in the region? Plus, has anyone got any experiences of cycling in Provence in July/August there would be kind enough to share with me?
Cheers,
Mark

Have a look at the documents here:

(Fubicy is the French national cyclists' organisation - don't ask me what it stands for).0 -
I was travelling from Marseilles to Avignon via train and bus and carried my bike in an old carbord box from the bike shop. No problems, but it's a bit of a hassle sometimes with the stairs on the trains - a pushchair was filling up the "free area" in our carriage.0

I talked to an irishman on the bike bus a couple of years back - he cycled/train hopped montpelier to Monte Carlo and back with no problems0

This can done up or downhill has you choose....There are internet sites with lavender spottiingng routes by bike in the area. This is tough area because villages are perched and involve a climb up toithem..Note how bikes are allowed on buses subject to space..Gorges of Verdon are not to far away either.jc0
