I`m wondering if some of the manufacturers are already losing sales due to the price rises.Specialized seem to be offering 10% in free goods,on 2009 bikes and the Genesis bikes have had £100 knocked off them.

Still don`t understand why some manufacturer`s bikes are so expensive, but yet the other day I was looking at the Boardman Team, which manages to have a 4 bar frame, with 120mm Rebas,an RS Monarch shock,Elixir brakes,SRAM X9,Truvativ Firex, etc, for less than £1k.

I guess thats to do with Halfords/Bikehut buying power, but I wonder if the current situation will see different distributor set ups or other solutions to save costs and offer buyers better value.

Most of the cost is Development, Manufacturer/well some. Marketing Advertising,
Aftersales and the better you are of the above is a cost added by the Manufacturer called Value.

The above regarding Value is not soley how much your bike is worth but what you
    are also buying into.

Now someone like Boardman doesnt have most if not any of the above
has they ask someone else to develop and manufacture.
    So there costs are lower.

Put all the above together and also for what I have read on here Halfords isnt
a Company I would call Value or worth investing in. Just Cheap.
