Bikeline 2 day

Still a couple of weeks to go, so better information might surface nearer the time. Certainly CW will have some sort of preview online or in the mag.
But really just see this thread from last year, not alot's changed in a year http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14741531
And people wonder why the Premier Calendar is in trouble, if their events are promoted - particularly to the non-cycling community further afield - in this way. You've only got to look at the East Mids CicleClassic to see how a Premier Calendar level race should be promoted, with each event having it's own individual website, that is easy to find! Heck even the Eddie Soens next weekend has a website better than most PC events.
*Of course the exception that proves the rule is excellent website for the Beaumont Trophy > http://www.northernrockcyclone.co.uk/Beaumonttrophy.asp Really must try and get up to the NE for that.0 -
This is about 4 miles from where I live, my son plays football where the race HQ is and I had no idea about the event - no publicity locally what so ever, a complete joke!
Stumbled across this on the BC website:

I had to download Microsoft publisher to view the document!!

Saw that link - trouble is it gives no idea where the course is and what time it starts.
I really think they don't want anyone to watch, Mersey Road Club, shouldn’t they be promoting the event or should it be British Cycling?! I'm new to cycling but isn't this series supposed to be quite a big deal? Top UK riders?
We are going to cycle up on Saturday (Kids are really excited), hopefully there will be a few other watching!______________________________________________

My club promoted a Prem Cal once (2004)................and once was enough. It cost the club about £2000 and that wasn't in an area subject to the extra cost of additional policing.
BC offered very little in the way of assistance of any kind, which is odd when they themselves promote the series as being the pinnacle of cycle sport in the UK.0 -
The club usually ride up there to check out the action. Basically if you are in the area - follow club cyclists and you'll probably end up watching it.
Mersey Roads isnt the biggest club - they're probably completely tied up organising the race - so spectators arent really a priority. Same with the BC - they'd have to spend a lot of money - and what would they get for it ? Some disappointed spectators ?
I mean - I'm a keen cyclist - but I wouldnt go out of my way to see them ride past. Its a better sport covered on TV than from the grass verge.
They do normally show coverage on Eurosport though. I seem to remember last year they had Paris Roubaix on, and then flipped to their film of The Two Day - not quite as much razzamatazz !0 -

Will be on Eurosport 21 March at 17:15 CET.
I for one will take the kids to cheer on the riders (they deserve that) - there is nothing in any local newpapers, no posters in any of the local shops - can't be that hard can it?______________________________________________

On my way to work this morning I saw some amature riders making their way to the start - I do not envy anyone on a bike today down our neck of the woods as the winds are close to 30mph :shock:0
-
Race was cancelled in the end - due to safety concerns from the police. I think day 2 may been cancelled as well - roads will be much safer now!
Think they were concerned with riders using both lanes - the quote I heard was riders were riding in the right gutter and had been warned a couple of times (I'm guessing down some of the narrower sections - the police then decided to stop the stage.______________________________________________

Glad I checked ! Will ride out that a way and enjoy the terrain without bothering to hang round to see the race.
Shame it was abandoned - wonder if it will get off the start line even next year ?0
