The lairy one with black and green graphics?!0 -
Oooh dear. That is just nasty. This may sound very snobby but I think these cheapo bikes should be banned from trail centres as I don't think they are up to the job in hand. Saw a couple of guys turn up at the jump gulley at swinley with very similar looking bikes. Good job they just rolled it or it would have been buckled wheels all round.
Having said that, beware the cheap bottom of the range GT's. Saw a guy stack the last jump at the gulley, he hit the lander front wheel first, did an air swim, and bent/nearly snapped the bars! The bloke was ok but the bike was looking rather hurt.0 -
The starting price seems a little optimistic to me. Are they Ally, it might be worth a couple of quid in scrap value. Looks horific though.
Suntour XCM forks on my GT were awful, it would have been better with rigids. Now living the relative luxury of Fox Float 32RL0 -
You can kill any bike with a crash though.0
-
Was there not recently something in MBUK about how bad these cheap forks are, and how (cheapo) bike makers should go back to using rigid forks? I think it was just a random rant from Steve Worland or Tym Manley0
-
Yeah, Steve was saying how they can hinder the ride, and I have also said many times the same. Lack of damping and weight are the two bugbears.0
-
Lets face it, most of us who started riding in the mid 90's or before will have rode rigid bikes.
I used to fly about the woods on a rigid scott tigua circa 1997, with centre pull cantilever brakes and shimano stx gears. Oldskool!!!
+1 vote in favour of bringing back rigid forks in place of cheap, dodgy "suspension".0 -
thing is tho... what would you rather...
The ebay banshee or a supermarket special
Some people would have to make that choice!
Bet the guy is getting quite confident with all the hits on his listing0 -
Funny thing is thet geo, and pivot position of that banshess is so similar to other single pivots of the time...........0

looks like an 2004 dawes edge fs - an outstanding bike - if i say so myself :oops:Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10

I suppose you'd have a point but this isn't really a cheap or terrible bike, it's just very dated. When it was new, it wasn't a star performer but it also wasn't terrible, so unless it's worn out (which it might well be) it's no more terrible today than it was then. I wouldn't buy it, makes no sense at all with the progress we've made, but it's no Apollo.Uncompromising extremist0 -
