8/9 speed chainrings

I've changed my shifters from 8 speed to 9 speed(sora to tiagra), changed the cassette and chain to match.Works perfectly on the big chainring but jumps on the small one, and chain has come off under heavy load. So I need 9 speed chainrings to match the chain I suppose. Do I need a new chainset or can I get 9 speed chainrings to fit my Specialized (generic?) chainset?

    sounds like it's due to wear, rather than 8/9 speed issues per se. New chains and old rings don't mix.

    Chainrings are available for sure. What teeth and BCD is it?
