Hello!

I'm going to Lake District for first time this Saturday evening 28th Feb and back to London next Wednesday midday. I'm planning to stay at a hostel or cheap b&b and visit local cycles shops around Ambleside for advice, info and maps (Biketreks...).
Anyone to hang around with? I see BIketreks organizes something.
By the way, this is my first post :D
Great forum with loads of useful info! It's just bad luck my computer died 12 days ago and I'm really struggling to organize this trip propperly, ouch!

Cheers,
Sarpullido

Hi I would highly recommend the B&B called Kays Cottage in Windermere: 01539444146, lady who owns it is called Jean and she is lovely. Rooms are fantastic and very comfy.
For a nice ride: go to bowness, ride the ferry to hawkshead then take the right and ride the side of the lake to Ambelside - nice warm up ride!

    Have fun, Darren
  • Hi Darren,
The Kays Cottage looks superb but I'm on a tight budget and finally I've booked first night at Ambleside backpackers hostel and the other 3 nights at lake District Backpackers Hostel in Windermere(at £12.50 per night!).

I'll check that route...and many more!

Thanks a lot for the info.
